Good Humor Mixed with Alphorns!

Brings the Alps to their audiences, playing Old World and contemporary folk music from the alpine regions of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. They continue to amaze audiences with their twelve-foot alphorns, Swiss cowbells, holzernes g’ächter, and harmony yodeling. Together since 1992, Salzburger Echo has played many venues and festivals throughout the United States and Europe.

Webertanz (May Pole dance) by local school children followed by Engelberg Bavarian Dancers, the Mother/Daughter dance, and some of our youngest volunteers, local First Graders performing – It’s Dance Time.

Considered a Festival highlight, this show starts our Bandstand entertainment every morning.

The Alpine Echoes Band plays music for happy occasions, specializing in German and Scandinavian music. And of course, no party is complete without the famous Chicken Dance.

Their instruments include: accordion, Austrian cowbells, banjo, bass, drums, fiddle, flute, trumpet, tuba and vocals.

If friendship had a soundtrack, this would be it. Cabin Fever NW is a folk band from Bellingham, WA, with wide crossover appeal for fans of bluegrass, singer-songwriter, Americana, country, and gospel. Blending elements from many traditions, the singer-songwriters Dianne Bochsler and Tara Caldwell are known for gorgeous vocal harmonies, compelling lyrics, and tasteful instrumentation.

European Takeout Band @ Bandstand

The European Take-out plays Oktoberfest plus other European based music  and favorite American standards for your listening and dancing pleasure. This includes dances such as the polka, waltz, fox trot, swing, reinlander, county western, rumba, and of course the ever popular Chicken Dance.  We also have easy dances we teach for audience participation.

Lisa Lynne & Aryeh Frankfurter perform with two Celtic harps, the rare Swedish Nyckelharpa, Ukrainian Bandura, Cittern and more. The audience will hear music hailing from Celtic and Nordic Traditions as well as heartwarming original compositions. The multi-instrumental duo will present a unique blend of music and tales from their adventures as modern day troubadours.

A fun competition between festival attendees pulled from the crowd.

There will be 5 different short, scored competitions.  The score from each section of the Olympics will be totaled to a combined score and a champion declared.  These short competitions – about 30 minutes each – will take place in the Biergarten each day. Watch the schedule for times.

This lighthearted competition is sponsored by the local trachten and German wear shop:  Touch of Bavaria.

The Tirolean Dancers started in the 1970′s, today they continue their tradition.  Through the years they have garnered new members, The Tiroleans continue to perform and share the joy of traditional German dance.  Enjoy the traditional and elegant dances, and the impressive Schuplattler performed by the gentleman – it becomes quite acrobatic and competitive!

Direct from Germany for over 20 years, this group of musicians come from Bavaria, and the banks of the Danube River. Klaus – the band leader, accordionist, keyboards and trumpeter has been coming for 21 years. We love to see his smiling face, it lights the Weingarten each evening. Andi – singer and bass guitar, Andi plays together with his Dad and brother Harry in top German Bands and with Klaus in the Maybacher Band. Harry – Drummer extraordinaire, travels worldwide and performs with several international groups, still makes time to come to Mount Angel! Thomas– clarinet and saxophone, plays with several bands and has been at Mount Angel for many years. Hugo – the man with the golden trumpet – ‘Can conjure up a polka from a hosepipe!’ Hugo plays with a Big Band in Germany called Opus I. Halef – lead guitar and newest member of the band, a professional musician for 25 years.
