Webertanz (May Pole dance) by local school children followed by Engelberg Bavarian Dancers, the Mother/Daughter dance, and some of our youngest volunteers, local First Graders performing – It’s Dance Time.

Considered a Festival highlight, this show starts our Bandstand entertainment every morning, in 2019 two performances a day will be offered!

54th Annual Mount Angel Oktoberfest Opening Ceremonies @ Bandstand

The Board of Directors welcomes you to the 54th Mount Angel Oktoberfest! Oktoberfest President Bill Bischoff welcomes you on behalf of Oktoberfest and Mount Angel Burgermeister (Mayor) Andy Otte welcomes you to the Village. A welcome from Abbot Jeremy Driscoll, from Mount Angel Abbey and Fr. Philip Waibel, Pastor of St. Mary Parish will include a prayer for a joyful and safe festival. Performances from the school children complete the official ceremonies.

Their instruments include: accordion, Austrian cowbells, banjo, bass, drums, fiddle, flute, trumpet, tuba and vocals.

This includes dances such as the polka, waltz, fox trot, swing, reinlander, county western, rumba, and of course the ever popular Chicken Dance.  We also have easy dances we teach for audience participation.

The Tirolean Dancers started in the 1970′s, today they continue their tradition.  Through the years they have garnered new members, The Tiroleans continue to perform and share the joy of traditional German dance.  Enjoy the traditional and elegant dances, and the impressive Schuplattler performed by the gentleman – it becomes quite acrobatic and competitive!
