Pedal Tractor Race – sponsored by Papé Machinery
This year’s race will take place on September 10, 2016 at 5:30 pm. The racing will start at St. Mary Grade School, wind its way through Mount Angel and end at the Festhalle. The final race will be held at 7:30 pm during the Kick-Off Party. Each sponsored team will be composed of 6 individuals that will run a relay type race on a John Deere pedal tractor supplied by Papé Machinery. Teams may be composed of females, males or co-ed. All participants MUST be 21 years of age or older. The entrance fee for each team will be $120. Download entry forms here.
We will run heat type races until every team has participated, 1st and 2nd place finishers for each heat will qualify for the championship race at the Festhalle.

After the championship race we’ll move right into the Kick-Off party and enjoy hours of socializing, dancing, eating and drinking! Dinner includes the great Knights of Columbus ½ chicken, corn on the cob, coleslaw and biscuit, and bottomless drinks of German biers, NW craft beers, cider, Wine and Pepsi products. And last but not least Mount Angel’s own Bavarian Party Band: Z-Musikmakers be performing for hours of enjoyment!

The original Pedal Tractor Race ran for 3 years from 1981 through 1983. The route was about 5 miles long and was a race between local taverns on Kick-Off Saturday. The teams were much larger – 20 people for each team! The race ran from Frank’s Place Tavern (next to the Sausage Company) to the Monitor Inn.
Rules and Guidelines:
- All participants MUST be 21 years of age or older
- Teams must be composed of 6 individuals
- All participants from each team must peddle a leg in the race
- All teams/participants must peddle their tractor through the entire race
- Registration forms need to be received no later than 5pm on September 1. Any registration forms received on Sept 2 or later will not be guaranteed t-shirts.
