Schola Cantus Angelorum

Schola Cantus Angelorum

Schola Cantus Angelorum (SCA) was formed in 2007 in response to Pope Benedict XVI’s encouragement to celebrate the liturgy with the beauty and solemnity of Gregorian chant.

As a Traditional art, Gregorian chant has a specified and defined purpose; it has a consistent musical form with cannons for composition to ensure its suitability to the Holy sacrifice of the Mass; It has been transmitted by pupillary succession for almost 2000 years; and it has a supreme and enduring value and beauty even when it is out of fashion. Most Gregorian pieces especially the most exquisitely beautiful pieces were created before the 7th century AD.
